June 12 : Osun Civil Societies, Student Bodies Protest, Call For Good Governance



As Nigerians celebrate June 12 Democracy Day,the Osun State Civil Societies Coalition and student unions of the state have trooped out enmass calling on the federal government to intensify its efforts on securing the life and properties of the citizens.

The protesters who are also joined by concerned citizens of the state all gathered at the popular Oke-fia junction,Osogbo on Saturday morning sang different solidarity songs.

Speaking,Secretary of the Civil Societies Coalition of the state,Olowu Emanuel said the country is under serious insecurity threat by enemies of the Nigeria populace.

He added that hunger, poor electricity supply, dilapidated infrastructures among others are what the masses want the government to end.

He,however,urged government at all level to use everything at their disposal to ensure that peace and good governance are delivered and sustained for the benefit of citizens.

Oyelayo Afeez ,Chairman NANS Zone D Joint Campus Committee who spoke on behalf of the Osun students expressed concern over series of attacks and abductions of Nigerian students across the country.

He said that students and their teachers are supposed to feel that they are secured while going about on their academic activities.

He enjoined the government to restore back peace and tranquility at all citadel of learning across the state.
