Management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree has said that there is no ‘Extortion’ of any kind in the institution.

Reacting to BlazeNewz report ” Ospoly Students Cry Out Over Extortion By Management ” , the Registrar of the institution, Mr. Busari Salawu said that the institution has not increased its tuition fees in the last six years in spite of the prevailing economic realities , while other institutions across the country are increasing theirs almost on a yearly basis to reflect the economic reality of the country.

On the alleged increment of the Matriculation Fee from One Thousand Naira to Two Thousand Five Hundred, the Registrar declared that “the polytechnic is just commencing a new Academic Session and the date of the Matriculation has not been fixed.

We have not announced any date and the fees that would be paid, if there’s going to be any increment, all stakeholders in the Institution, including the Students Union and other bodies would be carried along”, the Registrar enthused.

Mr. Salawu noted that the Institution has been charging a sum of One Thousand Naira only as Matriculation fee for the past one decade, while other institutions charge between Five and Ten Thousand Naira.

He, therefore, admonished all students to ignore rumour mongers and face their studies, while assuring them that in the tradition of the institution, they would be consulted if there would be any need for change of the matriculation fee.
