Osun United’s Head Coach, Bright Omokaro (MON) and the Club’s President, Chief Ademola Adesina have enjoined players to put behind the one all draw at home against Nnewi United, urging them to redouble their efforts in the subsequent matches in the ongoing Nigeria National League (NNL).

The duo, who lamented the inability of the Omoluabi Giants to convert numerous chances that came their way in the week 2 encounter against Nnewi United described the match as very tough, adding that the management and the technical crew have learnt their lesson after a close review of the game and have mapped out strategies to make necessary adjustment.

“We had couple of chances, particularly from set pieces but unfortunately we didn’t utilize them. Our game plan was disrupted in the match while our opponents were just very lucky to have equalised. We apologize to all our supporters and fans and promised that we are going to try our best to improve our game in the subsequent matches.

“Having lost their first match, it was crystal clear that they (Nnewi United) came with a game plan (to draw) which was broken in the 75th minute. It’s sad that poor connection from our end gave them the chance to equalise and get a point. We have assessed our performance and resolved to make some tactical change which will help us in our next couple of matches. We apologize to all our fans and promise better performance henceforth irrespective of some teething challenges we are going through’, submitted Omokaro.

Chief Ademola Adesina, in his reaction, expressed disappointment with the result but charged the players to put the outcome of the match behind and focus on the next game.

“It was a disappointing result but that’s football for you. Meanwhile, we must be careful and ensure that our home games are won convincingly with possible points on the road like our first game. We should remember the danger in the abridged league format where a slip at home can be suicidal. I have the belief that the needful shall be done to put smiles on the faces of our fans and supporters in our subsequent games,’ concluded Chief Adesina.

Osun United currently sit eight on the log with two points in two games and will square up with Stationery Stores in the Week 3 encounter holding in Lagos on Saturday.
