Residents of Osogbo, state capital of Osun are beginning to raise concern over rising activities of cultists which they said must be contained by security agencies before it get out of hand.
Recall, the crisis that erupted in Sabo Area, Osogbo few weeks ago which led to distruction of properties and lost of life was linked to activities of suspected cult group called Egbatedo boys.
On Tuesday in Ota-Efun area of Osogbo, another breach of public peace was again staged by group of suspected cultists who took over several streets in the area.
It was gathered that the cultist group stormed Ota-Efun streets following the death of their leader identified as Ismail Daduro, who until the announcement of his death was receiving treatment in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Aremu Saidi, who reside in the area told our correspondent that the cultist group are now becoming lords whose activities can not be questioned by anybody.
Saidi said that constant harassment from the cult group on youths of the area is also becoming unbearable for them, adding that young ladies can no longer walk around with peace.
Shop owner in Olaiya area of Osogbo, Kabira Adekilekun in her own reaction linked the attack on Governor Gboyega Oyetola during the EndSARS protest to rising member of cultists in the state capital.
The cultist members are now so free that they go around with dangerous weapons without being afraid of arrest by police.
She urged security agencies to rise up to their primary responsibility of protecting life and prosperity of residents of Osogbo from the hands of cultists who enjoy constituting nuisance at all time.
An aged octogenarian, Mr Aliru Akanmu expressed dismay over the rising number of the secret cult gangs within the state capital.
Mr Akanmu said gone are those days when we hear of cultist activities only happen in higher institutions, these days it has become rampant among artisans, including uneducated young boys.
He appealed to parents and guardians to always monitor their wards and protect them from being influenced by the cultist group who are now everywhere in the city of Osogbo.
