Residents Cry Out To Kwara Govt Over Deplorable Ganmo-Afon Road



Residents of Afon in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State have raised their voices calling on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to come to their aid by fixing the over aged deplorable Ganmo-Afon road.

BlazeNewz gathered that the Ganmo – Afon road was constructed over 20 years ago during the administration of late Governor Muhammad Lawal.

The road since then has been abandoned now begging for government urgent intervention in order to safe lives of commuters plying the road.

The road which links communities like Afon, Ganmo, Ogbondoroko, Ago-oja, Budo-Agun, Laduba, Akanbi Ade, Irede remains in a worrisome situation.

Speaking with BlazeNewz, the Chief Head of Baale of Ogbondoroko Land, Alhaji Momonu Sulyman Adekunle, who is also Managing Director of MSA Paluka Agro Company Ltd lamented the negative impact the bad road has done in affecting economic growth of his community.

Chief Adekunke said he has made a lot of efforts, consulted government agencies to see the need in reconstructing the road , but until the period of filing this report has not yield desirable result.

Another community leader, fellow of Institute of Personnel Management and retired Director of Personnel,Finance and Supply in Ilorin West Local Government Council, Alhaji AbdulRasaq Ayinde told our correspondent that the Ganmo-Afon road is strategic to the socio- economic transformation of the area, however, urged Governor AbdulRazaq to include the road among roads which will be constructed this year.

Also speaking, medical practitioner, Dr Rashidat Ayinde while praising the Federal Government for embarking on the construction of Afon-Aboto- Oyo State boundary road, expressed confidence that the reconstruction of Ganmo-Afon road will compliment the ongoing N3bn Federal Government road project .

Doctor Rashidat assured the state government of the unflinching support of the people of her area, to the present administration in the state.
