Ex-International and President of Osun United, Chief Ademola Adesina has lauded the State Government of Osun under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola for making sure that Osun United maintain its status in the Nigeria National League (NNL), promising that the team would not disappoint soccer fans and supporters when the season begins and will justify government’s huge investment in it.

The Maroc 88′ African Cup of Nations medallist who stated this during his visit to the team’s training at the Osogbo Township Stadium on Monday also applauded the cooperation and understanding of players and the coaching crew which made them stick with the club despite several challenges that confronted it last year.

The former Abiola Babes midfielder assured that year 2021 will be positively different as all challenges and issues that nearly disrupted progress of the club shall be a thing of the past.

“I am happy to be back home after being held in Europe for months due to Covid-19. Am particularly delighted that against all odds, Osun United remain a club in NNL due to the magnanimity of Governor Gboyega Oyetola, assistance of Hon. Ajibola Famurewa and efforts of the Commissioner and Special Adviser for Youth and Sports, Mr. Yemi Lawal and Aremo Gboyega Adelabu respectively.

“I commend you (players and coaches) for your perseverance during the trying time last year and I want to assure you that your welfare package shall be looked into for positive reviewing.”

Chief Adesina also enjoined the players to work hard, be more serious and disciplined which according to him, are ingredients of success.

“The tempo of football now and then is almost the same. You need to work and train very hard, be disciplined and serious to be able to stay at the top.

“We expect much from you and we believe you can give us good results. This is why we, as a management, will ensure that your salaries and allowances henceforth suffer no setback,” concluded Chief Adesina

Captain of the club, Hakeem Olalere appreciated the President and appealed to him to complete all arrangement and requirements for the team on time, to avoid the repeat of last season’s league opener where things nearly fell apart.
