Osun Muslim Parents Raise Alarm On Plan To Reverse Hijab Usage In Public Schools, Caution Oyetola

Muslim Parent and Guardian Association, Osun State Chapter has called on Governor Gboyega Oyetola to be careful with reversing the existing hijab policy in public schools of the state.

They said any attempt to reverse the police by the Oyetola led administration will lead to acrimony between the Osun government and the Muslim community.

Chairperson of the association , Mrs. Kareem Abeebat, mother of three kids whose children attend public school told our correspondent that there is a rumour flying around that Governor Oyetola is planning to review hijab policy in Osun.

She said if the governor should bow to pressure from suspected anti-hijab forces in the state, they (Muslim Parents and Guardians) will not hesitate to confront him with legal approach.

“The use of hijab for Muslim pupils in the state is constitutional and has the legal backup” warning that nobody should attempt to infringe on the right of Muslim students.

“All public schools across the state are owned by government, actives of the schools should only be regulated by government polices not external forces” she said.

Recall the state government of Osun had previously reviewed the educational policy of the state which returned all government owned schools across the state to their former names.

BlazeNewz gathered that reversal of the schools names across the state took place immediately it was announced by the state government while the reversal to the old uniforms will commence on November 9th which is the start of the new academic session.

She, however, urged Muslims in the state to keep cooperating with Osun government and exercise their duties as provided by the constitution.

She added that they should not allow themselves to be used by enemies of the state as tool for destruction or breach of public peace.
