NANS JCC Lagos Leadership Urge Government To Open School As Soon As Possible

The Students Union presidents of various tertiary institutions in Lagos, who doubles as the senators of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Committee (JCC) Lagos on Saturday 22nd of August 2020 at Micheal Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED), EPE, under heavy security elected new executives who will be leading the over 4.1 million Nigerian students in Lagos.

The students union presidents at the end of the 4 hours convention voted for Comr. Ogunsanya Rasheed (Ratio) from Mocped as the new Chairman of the association, while other elected executives are: Comr. Oladele Azeez from SACOED (Vice Chairman), Comr. Akindele David from Laspotech (General Secretary), Comr. Adegboye Adeboye from Unilag (Financial Secretary), Comr. Agboola oluwasegun from Oceanography (Public Relation Officer), Comr Ibrahim Tajudeen from AOCOED (Director of Special Duties), Comr. Ipesi Olugbemi from LASU (Sport Director) Comr. Akintoye Ifeoluwa Peter from Yabatech (Director of Program), Comr. McCarty Olatunji from LASU (Director of Welfare), Comr. Alagbe Oluwasegun from AOCOED (Director of Travels and Exchange)

At the end of the election, the elected chairman appreciated the SUG presidents and senators (Unilag and Yabatech) for their supports and votes, he also thank the hosting institution for the supports given to the transition committee both in term of security and provision of logistics that helped achieve a successful convention.

The new head of the association, Comr. Rasheed made it clear that the provision of educational facilities in the ten tertiary institutions in the state is paramount to giving quality education to students and it is the vocal point of NANS Rebirth in Lagos State.

Moreso, the welfarism of Lagos State students which ranges from good and affordable transportation system, quality learning environment, functional ICT facilities, and quality medical personnel and facilities are essential to building world class students that is expected from all tertiary institutions in Lagos State.

While applauding the effort of all health workers in Lagos State, especially with their excellent response to curbing and limiting the spread of the global Covid ’19 pandemic in the state, the NANS JCC chairman made a cry to all students in Lagos State to take to all precaution in order to continue to enjoy the gift of life. The chairman also promise to celebrate all health workers in the state soon.

On reopening of tertiary institutions in Lagos State, Comr. Rasheed assures that opening all campus in Lagos State is a must and NANS JCC Lagos will work with all relevant stakeholders to have students back to their various classrooms but it has to be declared safe by the government.

Lastly, on behalf of all the new executives of NANS JCC Lagos, the chairman appreciated the father figure role of the Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Wahab Tokunbo in ensuring a peaceful convention despite the lurkworm efforts of those who wishes to spoil the image of the association. He prayed that Almighty Allah should visit their souls and make them resourceful for the growth of humanity.
