NGO Sensitizes Osun Traders On Regular Sanitation, Distributes Materials

A Non-governmental and humanitarian organization under the International Association of Lions Club, Osogbo Living Spring Leo Club on Saturday took environmental sanitation campaign to market men and women of Igbona Market in Osun State capital, Osogbo.

The NGO in collaboration with Osun Waste Management Agency during the campaign and distribution of sanitation materials explained to the traders why it was imperative for their environment to be free of trash.

Addressing the traders, the club President, Opeyemi AbdulSalam who spoke through the club first vice president, Leo Tajudeen Hammed said the NGO saw the need for market men and women to be sensitized on regular sanitation of their surroundings.

He said unkempt market environment is capable of spreading diseases which can contribute negatively to the fight against the mitigation of health crisis among residents of the state.

Leo AbdulSalam further explained that the NGO in its monthly activities will always extend selfless services to her host community, Osogbo which will be of benefit to the residents.

“We have taken it upon ourselves as responsibility of having a market free of dirt which led to this campaign ” Leo AbdulSalam said.

The Babaloja General of Osun, Elder David Iyiola who could not hid his joy appreciated members of the NGO over the campaign, promised that traders of Igbona market will always maintain a pleasanf working environment.

Iyiola added that the campaign will also add to the knowledge of Igbona Market traders upon sensitization they have received in keeping their shops visinity clean.

A trader, who identified herself as Mrs. Raji Anike lauded the NGO for the campaign and urged her colleagues in the market to embrace self hygiene and keep their surroundings clean.
