Breaking : Lockdown Of 4 LGs In Osun Was Not Political – Osun Govt



The State Government of Osun has cautioned citizens of the state against the insinuation that the four local governments in Osun East Senatorial District previously locked down was political saying the exercise was done based on recommendation.

This was made known by the commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu who doubled as the coordinator of COVID-19 committee of the state on Friday during inter-ministerial press briefing held at the Governor’s Office, Abere.

Isamotu said the lockdown became necessary in the four local government of the state as a result of recommendation from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to prevent community spread of the virus.

“Result of positive COVID-19 tests in the state was rampant in the state as a result from the affected four local governments” Isamotu said.

Speaking on why Ejibo was not locked down despite being the epicentre of COVID-19 in the state, the commissioner said the government was able to identified all the travelers who came into the state from foreign country.

“As at that period the state has no community spread records which occurred in the four local government in Osun East Senatorial District ” he said.

He however, urged residents of the state to keep observing NCDC guidelines in protecting themselves against contracting COVID-19.
