Obaseki Orders Immediate Arrest Of Late Uniben Student Rapers

Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has ordered the State Command of the Nigeria Police Force to immediately commence investigation and arrest the suspected gang who raped a University of Benin student, Vera Uwaila to death.

Blazenewz earlier reported that Miss Uwaila, 22-year-old was said to have been raped on Friday 29th May, 2020 near Ikpoba Hill in Benin City, at her Church, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

Obaseki on Sunday frowned to the death of Miss Uwaila which has also generated concern from Nigerians over guarantee on the security of lives of students in the state.

The governor in his condolence message said “I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa. We have been in consultation with the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force and have mandated thorough investigation of the matter to ensure that those who are responsible for this heinous crime are brought to justice.

“We would ensure that the full weight of the law run its course. We will take advantage of the Violence Against Persons (VAP) Law and other such laws related to rape and sexual abuse to get justice for late Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa” he added.

The governor also supported thousands of Nigerians with the #JusticeforUwaila on his social media.
