Kwara To Rejuvenate Dilapidated Oju-Ekun Health Centre- Olayinka




The Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led Kwara State Government through the Ministry of Health yesterday mobilised contractors to the dilapidated Oju-ekun Basic Health Centre for the commencement of its reconstruction. 

It would be recalled that the healthcare facility was built only a few years ago but failed to serve the aim of decongesting Hospitals and other healthcare centres and providing basic healthcare delivery for the people in that locality.

According to the Special Assistant to Gov. AbdulRazaq on New Media, Fafoluyi Olayinka, who maintained that the quality of work done during project execution was below the required standard, leading to the deterioration of the structure.

He however stressed that Gov. AbdulRazaq will rejuvenate the healthcare center saying “In line with global best practices” and his commitment on massive construction and rehabilitation of Primary Healthcare Centres and hospitals across the state will give give a standard and equipped face to the hispital.

He noted that under the watchful care of the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Raji Razak in a bid to enhance healthcare delivery and drastically reduce maternal mortality and morbidity. 

“The comprehensive reconstruction of the Healthcare Centre is part of efforts by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led Kwara state government under its rural-urban renewal initiative project to bridge the wide infrastructural gap in the state with focus on critical infrastructure including education, health, energy and transport sectors.

“The member representing Ajikobi/Alanamu Constituency, Hon. AbdulGafar Ayilara while inspecting the project, assured his constituents of expeditious action in its execution so as to accord the people the right to efficient and affordable healthcare services as soon as possible. 

“Another window is opened for local artisans and industries who will be patronised for local materials as directed by Governor AbdulRazaq whose commitment to local content development and creating job opportunities for the teeming youths remains unwavering.

“The complete rebuilding of the Basic Healthcare center at Oju-Ekun is expected to be completed within the next two months” he said.
