Religious clerics of both Christianity and Islam had called on federal and state governments across the country to consider relaxing ban on religious activities .
They said the country needs spiritual intervention despite the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking with BlazeNewz, Ustaz Yusuf Ahmod, Imam of Ibukun-Olu Central Mosque, Lagos in an online interview suggested that government at all level should grant religious activities to resume using social distancing measure.
While explaining measures agreed by Islamic scholars, he said, ablution is expected to be done at home before coming to mosque, adding that all worshippers are mandated to bring their personal praying marts.
He further said worshippers would not stay long after salat and other regulations that can guarantee safety of the people from any possible contact with the virus will be used.
In his own view, Eziekel Israel, senior Pastor of Living Faith Church, Osogbo maintained that churches across the country should be allowed to go on with their religious activities since the lockdown has taken another dimension.
Pastor Israel noted that the churches authorities are ready to convey their congregations using stipulated advice of the federal government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
He argued that if citizens of the country could be allowed going around with their business activities using social distancing measure, why should religious activities remain banned ?
The duo urged citizens to maintain personal hygiene, use face mask and report any suspected case showing symptoms of COVID-19 to government.
