AbdulRazaq Fixes Over 50 Years Infrastructural Neglect In Kaiama, Gives New Look To IGS




Almost a year after AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq was given the mandate to become Executive Governor of Kwara State through the mantra of Oto Gee. Immediately he assumed office he set a new slogan for his administration known as Iseya.

Different sectors in the state are beginning to witness infrastructural and human development transformation since he assumed office in May, 2019.

Giving attention to education sector, AbdulRazaq embark on assessment of public facilities with the aim of renovating them, some sections of Kwarans were sceptical of the governor’s will power to close the wide infrastructural gap.

Government Unity Secondary School, Kaiama is one of the schools in the state crying for infrastructural transformation which has never received government funding and maintenance in its over five decades of existence. Unprecedented years of infrastructural neglect and abandonment.

It was learnt that out of sheer conscience and passionate concern for community development, the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Omar, took up the renovation of the school from his personal resources having seen the deplorable state of a once flourishing learning centre that has churned out prominent individuals who have contributed immensely to nation building.

AbdulRazaq, who has always want a better life for his people through his leadership has taken the bull at the horn is now embarking on massive rehabilitation of schools across the state to boost productivity and efficiency in the education sector have now come to the rescue of the over five decades old school that had its structures completely dilapidated.

Today, the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction work has put the school in good stead for educational development after many years of colossal negligence as conducive teaching and learning environment and state of the art facilities will be provided by the government to ensure the students are able to learn and develop their skills in line with the governor’s plan for the state.

Emir of Kaiama who sent in his prayers and a thank you message through the Commissioner of Environment, Arc. Aliyu Muhammad Saifuddeen commended the Governor for his masses driven initiatives and foresighted leadership especially after taking the renovation of the over 50years old school.

He prays Allah continues to guide and guard the Governor unto heights of honour which will be pleasant memories to behold for all Kwarans and generations to come.

The famous Ilorin Grammar School (IGS) in Geri-Alimi, Ilorin was not left out of AbdulRazaq infrastructural development revolution as it was captured in the first phase for renovation and utility refurbishment to provide an enabling environment for teaching and learning which will enhance efficiency, productivity and quality education for all.


The ongoing school renovations across the state is part of the Governor’s effort to improve the academic performance of students and standards in schools all over the state which will put Kwara on the path to achieving the global ‘Education For All’ initiative as being promoted by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will continue to partner with relevant government agencies, home and abroad to support educational development in Kwara state.
