A traditional ruler, Oba Hammed Adekunle Makama Oyelude, Tegbosun II, Olowu of Kuta has called on the Federal government led administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to extend Covid-19 assistance fund to Osun government as it struggles to fight coronavirus pandemic.
Oba Makama made the call on Friday while addressing newsmen in his palace during the flag-off of Olori Fatima Adeola Makama Oyelude II community empowerment initiatives worth six million of naira.
The royal father maintained that Osun need fund to carry on its fight against the noble virus which has become a treat to the state economy and residents at a whole.
Recall, Osun is ranked among the states in Nigeria which have the highest list with 34 recorded cases with two citizen that have died during the course of saving their lives.
The Yoruba monarch stressed that “a state like Osun deserves financial assistance to augment its lean financial resources in order for its government not to grind to a halt.
Federal government can also grant debt relief or moratorium for Osun state so as to be on sound footing in the post COVID-19″ he said.
Applauding efforts of the Presidential Task Force, chaired by the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha he said ” Federal government has done so well in curtailing the COVID-19 and we must commend them”.
He further noted that even those had predicted doom for Africa based on the way the rampaging COVID-19 humbled some of the developed nations that boast of best healthcare infrastructure can not but commend the Buhari led government for its comportment.
While speaking on the palliatives food relief items the monarch said it had earlier distributed palliatives to religious leaders of the community before extending it to Kuta residents at large.
BlazeNewz gathered during the palliatives distribution aged citizens and youths all trooped to the monarch palace to collect food items while maintaining social distancing.
One of the beneficiary of the kind gesture of the philanthropist monarch, Abike Lawal thanked the king for his royal intervention at the period when hunger has become unavailable for everyone.
She confessed that the palliatives came at the period which she said is most needed saying she has been struggling to feed during Ramadan fasting.
