Osun Court Sentences Illegal Petrol Dealers To 3 Years Imprisonment


The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Osun Command has secured conviction against one Agboola Abiodun , M,43 and one other Oyedeji Abiodun, M,32 on the issue of illegal dealing and adulteration of petroleum products at the Federal High Court, Osogbo presided over by Honourable Justice M. A. Onyetenu.

The Corps Public Relations Officer, DSC Babawale Afolabi stated that the suspects were apprehended by the patrol team of the agency in 2013 beside Laspama Filling Station, Ayetoro, Osogbo on the 27th January, 2013.

The first defendant was sentenced to three years imprisonment while the 2nd defendant was sentenced to two years imprisonment without the option of fine.

The court also ordered the forfeiture of the tanker with registration number XW 321 EKY and the petroleum products contained in its compartment to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

However, the State Commandant of the NSCDC in Osun, Commandant Adeyinka Oguntuase advised citizens to engage in legal business and know that there is no short cut to greatness in life.

He therefore called on those involved in vandalism of critical national infrastructure to desist as the arm of the law will soon catch up with them.

He warned petroleum marketers to always verify the source of their supply as the Corps will not compromise in her stand against economic saboteurs.
