A humanitarian and none governmental organization, Osogbo Living Spring Leo Club has urged motorists,commercial driver and Okada riders in Osun State to follow roads signs in averting unwanted accidents during the yuletide festival.
The NGO also appealed to passengers at the parks not to hesitate in cautioning drivers when they notice he is driving recklessly.
The NGO on Saturday took the campaign titled “Don’t Drink And Driver” to Osogbo-Lagos, Osogbo-Ilaorangun and Osogbo-Ilorin motor parks in the State Capital, Osogbo.
According to the President of the club, Leo Sanni Saheed, who said the campaign was to sensitize road users and remind them the dangers in reckless driving, noted that many people have lost their lives on highways caused by negligence of road signs by drivers.
He stressed the need for drivers not to consume alcohol nor other dangerous substances capable of making them uncomfortable while driving.
He however, urged drivers to do proper checkup for their cars and buses before they embark on a long journey, saying life has no duplicate.
Speaking, Secretary of Osogbo-Lagos park, Mr. Adekola Adeleke, who spoke on behalf of his chairman reinstated their commitments in constance enlightenment to drivers on ways to avoid road accident.
According to Adeleke “Our drivers are responsible parents, who have families at home, none of us will want to die untimely through reckless driving.
“I am happy for your courage in bringing this campaign to our park, which I believe will also add to sensitizations and workshops this park leadership gives drivers working here”he said.
He also prayed for members of the NGO, Nigeria and Osun, saying 2020 will be a prosperous year for everybody.
