The chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalist, Osun State chapter, Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji has charged the students of Osun State Polytechnic Iree to be conscious while protesting to demand for their right from school authority.
Ayantunji gave the charge during a lecture he delivered at the Student Union Government week program tagged; The role of Nigerian civil society in Democracy on Wednesday in Iree, said violent protest cannot present them as an intellectual.
He further said that violent protest is condemnable stressing is never a good idea, “I was once a SUG exco which we staged 23 protests in a year without broke of a single glass.
He urged the students to use diplomacy while they organize protest to agitation for their right.
He however charged students on effective reading to know much about their SUG and seek better understanding about Nigeria constitution.
Speaking, the manager of Rave FM Femi Olanipekun described the civil society has a conscience of a nation that can determine the progress of the society through their vibrant agitation.
Olanipekun said if the country want to last longer the civil organization and press must be function adding that they facilitate change to the society.
“The progress in electoral reform in Nigeria is as a result of the advocacy of the civil society” he added
The duo speakers commended the SUG leadership under Kehinde Raji for organize intellectual programme for the new admitted students.
