Court Remands Former IBEDC Staff For Defrauding Customers

A 38-year-old man, Akinola Abideen Ojo on Thursday was dragged by Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) before a magistrate court sitting in Ikire, Irewole Local Government of Osun State over the allegation of defrauding Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) customers.

Abideen, a native of Ikire was charged with two count charges, he was on February 12, 2019 in Ayedaaye area said to have paraded himself as IBEDC staff, collected money from the electricity company customers in Ikire town.

The accused person was also on the same date allegedly collected 35 thousand naira from one Awogbade Wasiu under the pretence to get him a prepaid meter.

The accused person however, pleaded guilty of the two count charges and prayed to the court to temper justice on him.

The prosecutor,NSCDC Principle Inspector of Corps II, Opeyemi Adeniran prayed the court to do justice on the case stressing that since the accused person has accepted his offences.

BlazeNewz gathered that Abideen, a former staff of the electricity company was disengaged in 2017 and since then he has been parading himself as IBEDC staff.

Presiding Magistrate, Senior Magistrate A.A. Ayeni said he will not be in haste to convict the accused person despite his acceptance of being guilty of his offences.

In his ruling, Margistrate Ayeni urged the prosector, PIC Adeniran to present before the court evidences that will confirm the accused person is guilty.

He ordered that the suspect should be remanded in prison and adjourned the cased till March 13,2019 for presentation of evidence.
