Osun Parliamentarian Leader Urges FG To Return Back To Parliamentary System

As the 2019 general election approaches,leader of parliamentary councle of Orolu Local Government in Osun State, Honorable Rafiu Durodola said he is at the same opinion with Nigerians calling for the country to return back to parliamentary system of government .

Honorable Rafiu who is a member of the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC) made this known during an interview granted to BLAZENSWZ.

It could be recalled that the country once made used of parliamentary system of government from 1960 to 1966 before it was toppled by the military.

Honorable Rafiu maintained that he agreed with this advocacy not because he is a parliamentarian saying “but as an individual who is praying for the betterment of Nigeria”.

He also confirmed that this system of government is good,the head of government is a prime minister , who wields the real power , while the head of state may however be an elected president or a monarchy , where constitutional monarchy exists, but however noted “if rightfully practised”.

In another vein Honorable Rafiu called on Osun Government to empower the state local government parliaments created under the previous government in order to operate in its full capacity.

‘Since we have been sworn in as parliamentarians of Orolu Local Government in Feburary 6, 2018, the council has been sitting without standing order” he disclosed.

He further explained that “The standing order is the law of the chamber that gives directive to better control of the House in the Parliamentary system of Government”.

He urged Nigerians to maintain peaceful conduct in this agitation and stay away from all forms of violence capable of causing chaos before and after the general election.

He appealed to Nigerians to regard themselves as each others keeper and also charged Christian faithfuls to use the opportunity of Christmas to pray for the country’s progress.
