Osun Govt Lauds NUT Over Role On Osun Educational Revolution



The Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola at the 6th Quadrennial (7th) Delegates Conference of Nigeria Union of Teacher, Osun State has expressed his satisfaction over the positive result coming from the educational revolution which his government embarked on since 2010.

The Governor represented by Commission for Education, Mr. Wasiu Kolawole Yung said that the revolution is a continual process which it results are still in pocket.

The governor lauded the NUT members for the sacrifices and role been played towards actualizing quality educationa throughout the state.

Aregbesola also stressed that for standard education to be delievered requires qualified teachers which is paramount to his administration.

The Governor charged the union to do more in their profession in order to enable government efforts on education to be fruitful.

In his speech, Comrade Wakeel Alade who is the NUT chairman of Osun State stressed that the ” the legal tussle ensued after the election was amicably resolved and this lead to further development”.

“Local government branches were compelled to hold regular branch meeting to disseminate SWEC directive and state officers were dispatched to ensure compliance”.

He further said that he is working harmonious with the State Wing of the NUT and Osun State Government to guarantee that teachers matters are put at the front banner at formative stage of any education polices”.

Speaking on the success of his administration said ” Seminal/workshops were organized for local government branch trustees on 4th and 5th of December, 2017, renovation of the state secretarial and office of the chairman were done”.

He also noted that his administration successfully settled the rift between Ikoyi and Apomu communities NUT Teachers in Isokan local government area who have not been subscribing to the Union for many year but are now subscribing after his intervention.

In another vein the NUT National President Dr.Nasir Idris represented by his secretary Comrade Kayode Akosile, said that dialogue is ongoing with Federal Ministry of Education to increase retirement age of teacher from 60 to 65 years.

He also assured the NUT members that the submitted 30,000 minimum wage will be officially legalise very soon.

Dr. Nasir enjoined NUT to remain united and act in one direction in order to achieve their stated objectives saying “the will of God shall come to past”.
